Stargazing in Galloway's Dark Sky Park

Join us for a wonderful weekend of Stargazing, talks and trips to the new Dark Sky Planetarium here in Kirkcudbright and the Galloway Dark sky park. We are joined by top Scottish Astronomer Steve Owens of the Glasgow Science centre for a fascinating insight into our night skies. A wonderful weekend.

Friday
Arrive in your own time on Friday.
6.30pm – meet hotel General Manager for pre-dinner drinks and canapés in the Burns room.
7.00pm – 8pm 2 course Dinner after which we will make our way on foot to the new Kirkcudbright Dark Space planetarium for Steve’s lecture on “Our Solar system" and beyond”
Steve will introduce the weekend program and give a short talk on Stargazing, the Universe and Constellations. Depending on the weather forecast you will either be taking a walk to the harbour in Kirkcudbright or heading out to our secret location on a mini bus or visiting the new Dark Sky Planeterium.
Saturday
Saturday is a day of leisure.
Explore Kirkcudbright or the wider region around. Enjoy a game of Golf, a brisk walk or just sit curled up with a book in front of one of our fires.
6.30pm - Meet in the Burns Room
7pm - Dinner. Steve will be continuing his talk on Space, the Universe, Galaxies and Constellations and heading into the Dark Sky Park.
Warm attire is essential as you may be outside for at least an hour. Hot chocolate will be provided once we reach the Dark Sky Park.

A leisurely breakfast on Sunday morning before departure with a promise to return.
